When I read Laura Marris's essay “Vertical Time,” my mind began spinning——thinking about how grief can alter our perception of time and how personal artifacts (letters, postcards) allow us to inhabit a deceased loved one's memory. I found the vintage cards at a library book sale and collaged the writing and stamps on top.
Nichole LeFebvre is a writer and artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. An alumna of Hedgebrook and the University of Virginia’s MFA program, she has published nonfiction in Alta, Catapult, Fourth Genre, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
